Warnings, Watches, and Advisories
Air Quality Alert for Tippecanoe, Vigo Counties [IN] for Tuesday.
At 10PM: Cooler temperatures today as high pressure was overhead today. All the extreme heat is still off towards the west as a strong ridge of high pressure still sits over that area. Good news, that ridge will start to break down and the heat will start to leave that area. High pressure still sitting overhead at this time and will for the rest of tonight.
Tonight, Tuesday, and Tuesday Night: High pressure in control overnight keeping our skies clear and cool, into the upper 50s, which is something we have not seen for awhile. High pressure still in control for Tuesday to give us sunny skies, but warmer with highs in the lower 90s. Tuesday looks to be the only day with highs to be above 90 for the next seven days. Tuesday Night some clouds move in and overnight temps will stay a little warmer in the low to mid-60s.
Wednesday thru Thursday: Mostly of Wednesday does look be sunny before clouds move in ahead of a cold front. That front will spark off some isolated showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, highs should stay in the upper 80s. Overnight Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms turned scattered and we stay cloudy in the mid-60s as the front moves over. Thursday scattered showers and thunderstorms still, staying mostly cloudy with highs in the low 80s. See the Severe Weather Risk section for more information.
Friday thru next Monday: We do have a chance of seeing some isolated showers and thunderstorms early Friday morning, but will stay hit and miss. Skies will start turn partly cloudy to partly sunny. It will be cooler with highs only getting into the mid-70s. We will go from summer to fall by the end of this week. This weekend and Monday, high pressure gives us nice sunshine and highs ranging from the mid-70s to the lower 80s. With the summer we have had, we really do need that.
Severe Weather Risk: Our risk of severe weather does remain low by the SPC for the next seven days right now, but I do believe we do have a chance of seeing some strong storms to severe weather this week. Our best chances will be late Wednesday Night thru early Friday morning. The only reason I say that is because some model data wants some of these storms to kick off as severe. Main threats will be damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall. The tornado threat I will be keeping low at this time. I think it’s just too early to make that call. Updates as they do come in.
Tropical Update: Florence became a post-tropical low this morning. NHC did not think it would ever make it to full hurricane status. Ernesto is still a tropical storm as of the 8PM EDT Advisory. Winds are at 65MPH and moving WNW at 12MPH. Ernesto is forecasted to become a hurricane either overnight or during the day on Wednesday if it holds together the right way. If not, it will remain a tropical storm, head towards the Gulf of Mexico and hit in Central Mexico.
