Meteorological summer is in its final month. We still do hit those high temps for August, but the rainfall really does start to go down hill and we will see that later on. High pressure currently over Lake Michigan giving us this beautiful night with a clear moon. However, high pressure will go from friend to something we will hate. It will move more towards the East on Thursday and switch the winds to come from the south. Warmer air will be heading our way. Low to mid-60s for tonight, but upper 90s for Thursday.
Thursday Night, Friday, and Friday Night: Watching a low pressure system around the Evansville area that will increase our cloud cover for Thursday Night. Temps are going to stay warm, upper 60s, thanks to the blanket affect, that is when cloud cover overnight keeps the temps from cooling down overnight. Rain chances for Friday and Friday Night stay between 20-25%, meaning widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. Highs in the mid-90s and lows around 70.
Weekend: About a 23% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, highs in the mid-90s. Sunday is when a cold front will sweep in. Believe this or not, that is the day to see our best chance of rain at 28%. Once the front moves over, skies should start to clear. One thing will notice different will be the temps: low to mid-80s.
Monday thru Wednesday: Look ahead to next week, staying mostly sunny for all three days. Highs will start off in the lower 80s on Monday and be in the upper 80s by Wednesday.
Severe Weather Risk: No major severe weather risk has been forecasted by the SPC for the next seven day. Some of our storms could be on the strong side and one or two might be severe for a little bit.
