In November of 2010, I started to put all of my weather
information from my personal page onto a fan page known as “Storm Spotter
Remington Crowder.” Then in August 2011, I had announced that I was going to
stop posting on that page and repost on a new page known as “Remington
Crowder.” Now I am announcing that I am going to post all of my weather
information, again, onto my personal page. The choice was easy to make. Today,
Facebook is now allowing people to have a subscribe button to a profile. With
most well-known people no longer making fan pages and just having a subscribe
button, it will be easier for people to see everything. I hope that made scene.
The one thing I do like about the subscribe feature now on Facebook is I do not
have to see your statues updates. Before, if you wanted to see my weather
information, you had to become my friend before having the fan page. Now, you
can subscribe to me. You will get my updates, but I will now see yours. In many
cases, many of you most likely do not want me to see your updates and that is a
good thing.
Besides Facebook, I have been using Twitter for to post
my weather updates. Bad news is, I can only post a max of 140 charterers.
Meaning, I have to keep everything short and to the point. I still will be using
my Twitter account, but I will try to use it more often. So at times, I will be
asking you to be getting my updates on Twitter only. In many cases, it will be
faster and easier.
I do have a Google+ page. Bad news is I do not use it
enough. As a matter of fact, I am hardly ever on it. Not because I do not like,
but because when I use it on dial-up internet, it takes forever to post
something. Whenever I am near high speed internet, I do post on there. I do
hope that once I get back to school in Mid-August, I will be posting on there
even more. Just about anything I will post on Facebook and Twitter, I will be
posting on Google+. I will say this, I do wish that Google+ was a little more
fitting better for computer screens. To me, just about everything looks big on
there and takes up just too much room.
My blog site, remingtoncrowder.blogspot.com, is going to
be the best site to get my weather forecast and updates. While Facebook,
Twitter, and Google+ are good for getting information out fast, they are not
good enough. With Facebook, Twitter, and Google+, you are limited to their
resources. With my blog site, on the other hand, I can add more, but I can only
add so much. I do hope to just down right turn the blog into a working website
over the next few years for everyone to use. My goal is to add interactive
radar, live real-time weather conditions, and so on. Because I am new to the
whole world of blogging, I am going to be messing around a few times with what
the blog will look like and how everything will look like in the text. Not
everyone is going to know when I have updated the blog. Therefore, I have a
feed system that will post the new blog entry on Facebook, Google+, and soon to
Twitter.
Now a note about when I will be posting my forecast. I
hate being on dial-up internet right now. Living at home during the summer with
slow internet is something that every weather forecast hates. We are trying to
get high speed internet, but only time will tell. Once I get back to school, I
will have free high-speed internet and I will be posting everything faster,
better, and maybe my forecasts will be better than right now. Also, I am now
posting my forecast Monday thru Friday. Starting August 20th, I will
be posting my forecast in the morning and try to give an update in the
afternoon or evening.
