Covington FirstAlert Forecast for Tuesday, July 17th, 2012 (Evening)

We did get some rain this afternoon to remind us that rain is still out there, but we did not get enough in Covington to last that long. It was hot today and will be again for the day on Wednesday. Clouds are still going to stick around tonight and it will still be warm with lows in the low to mid-70s. A Heat Advisory is still out for Wednesday until 8PM EDT as highs for the day will reach the upper 90s to 100 in some areas with the heat index ranging from 100-110. Good news is, rain is going to move in. A cold front is sitting along the Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan state lines. This front is going to sink ever so slow south during the day. By the end of the day on Wednesday, the front will still be in the Northern 1/3^rd of Indiana. Rain should starting falling during the mid-afternoon hours. As we head into the evening and overnight hours, that is when we will see our chances increase. Our rain chances stay in the mid-40% range for Thursday. Still will be hot, but our daytime highs will reach the lower 90s this time around. The cold front will still be sliding south during Thursday and should be in the heart of the Illiana area by the evening hours. On the back side of the front on Friday, a few showers and storms here and there. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday is when the skies start to clear back and our temps start to increase again. Watching a system for next Tuesday that could bring us more rain, but will be hot. As for the storms lasting from Wednesday until Friday, some of those will be on the strong side. Main threats will be lighting, gusty winds, some hail, and heavy rain.
